What is Stress?

Stress is our body method of responding to any kind of demand. Or we can say that Stress the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body responds to these changes with physical, mental and emotional responses. Stress is a normal part of our life. We experience stress from our environment, our body and our thoughts. It can cause both good and bad experiences. Examples of stress include financial, martial, work and health-related stress. So, the causes of stress can be varied for each person. Stress can be either good or bad. Good stress positively compels people to action whereas bad stress results in negative feeling such as distrust, anger and depression. Bad stress can be intense or chronic and may lead to serious health problems.

What Causes Stress?

The circumstances and loads that cause stress are known as stressors. We usually think of stressors as being negative, such as exhausting work schedule or a rocky relationship. However, anything that puts huge requirements for you can be stressful. This involves positive events such as getting married, buying a house, going to college or receiving a promotion.

Stress is not caused by only external factors. Stress can also be internal or self-generated, when you worry extremely about something that may or may not happen, or have senseless, pessimistic thoughts about life. There are few causes of Stress like Survival Stress, Internal Stress, Environmental Stress and Fatigue and Overwork.

Some common causes of External Stress are:

•    Major life changes
•    Financial problems
•    Work or School
•    Being too busy
•    Relationship difficulties
•    Children and Family
•    Job loss and many other reasons.

Some Common causes of Internal Stress

•    Pessimism
•    Inability to accept uncertainty
•    Rigid thinking
•    Lack of flexibility
•    Negative self-talk
•    Unrealistic expectations/ Perfectionism and many more

Tips to deal with the Stress


  • Keep a positive attitude.
  • Don't overthink about any condition.
  • Accept the things which are not in your control.
  • Try meditation and Yoga.
  • Exercise regularly. Your body fights with stress when you are fit.
  • Manage your time and go for outdoor activities.
  • Get enough rest and sleep.
  • Spend enough time with your family and loved ones. Share your opinions and problems with them.
  • Don't rely on alcohol, drugs or compulsive behaviours to reduce stress.
  • Connect to others.
  • Eat a healthy diet.
  • Learn to relax.

Taking Stress is not good for our Health. Avoid Stressful Talks, Surround yourself with positive people. Whenever you feel stressed try to think in a peace.
